The Festival in 2008 was an astounding success ! We were expecting maybe 1000 people max. and we estimated 6000 people from Southampton and further came along to enjoy the Field, the Festivities and the Fun. The weather was great, the music was vibrant, the activities were exciting, the food was delicious and all of us spent all day with beaming smiles. It had been hard work with our small team but so very very worth it! A festival in Freemantle, for all the Community, with nearly everything FREE!!!

We are running the same thing, only BIGGER and BETTER and MUCH MORE FUN in 2009. May 17th.

Do you want to be involved? It's really great! We need stall holders, Youth and Community Organisations, activity organisers, marshals, tentage, fencers, generators, signage and organisers. We need food and drink providers to register. We need teams of fun loving helpers from all over Southampton.

The aim of the event is to bring a community of some 25,000 people
together in the open and spark some good.

Our biggest need is to attract funding:   We need over £400,000 more.  Can you help?

Freemantle and Shirley in Southampton, UK, is our Community. 
 25,000 people live in our Community area.
The Field is nearly 8 Acres in size and is now Green Field Open Space on the Local Plan.

The Field was well used by all of the Community since the 1800s

Our Community Association seeks to return it's use to the Community. Please help us to help.

67% wanted "100% Open Space and Community Use" as 1st Choice
52% wanted "A Community Hub" as 2nd Choice
54% wanted "A School merger" as 3rd Choice
60% wanted "Housing Development" as 4th Choice
15% were strongly against any housing development

We are working with "Community at St Marks" and "The Randolph Centre" Community Initiatives to bring about some good things for all our Community in Freemantle and Shirley areas of Southampton.

Will this be a Football Field?  Hockey Pitch? Cycle Track? Community Pavillion? Local Cafe/Bar/Disco for all the family? Environment Centre? Sustainable Energy Facility? Tennis Centre? Family Education Centre? Local Information Hub? ICT Centre? BBQ and Gardens to visit? Pie Shop?!

Local children and visitors to all our community events have voted for their needs. What do you want?
